Ivan’s Simple Magic System

This is a simple, yet highly playable, magic system that can replace the Vancian magic systems used in many fantasy RPG's and OSR's. Instead of requiring you to look up spells amid a sea of 100's, this system only requires you to learn a few basic concepts about how magic works. Instead of spells, it uses Crafts, which are types of magic, such as fire, water, earth, air, illusion, necromancy, summoning, etc. These work in predictable ways.

All or most of the usual spellcasting classes are covered, including Clerics, Druids, and Bards.

Spellcasters also have a "0L" casting option. They can cast very minimal spells any time they make an ability score check.
