Vendor Review

  1. 3 out of 5

TLDR: Worth the money but a little clunky in layout and skimpy in some of the tables. Overall a good buy. Longer version for people that aren't addicted to instant consumption: I like this author. He has made sure his stuff is available on odysee. He keeps his blog relatively well updated. He is interested in Linux and open source stuff. He's one of the good guys. The OSR Settlement generator is made for use with ACKS like he says. The only ACKS specific tables though are the population levels and market class tables. This generator would be useful in any B/X style system. The set of tables cover settlement size, population, what kind of hex terrain the settlement is in, a tavern name generator, the majority demographic, number of hirelings available each month, and a table for determining any unique features of the settlement. Improvements need to be made in the layout. Tables are wrapping around to the next page making print on demand frustrating. Also the tables themselves are light. I would like to see larger tables for the unique features especially as this table is only a d8 in size. The same goes for the tavern name generators and most other flavor tables. I also question the choice of probability for certain tables. For example, table 5 uses a bell curve style for probability (3d6 to determine unique features) but other tables like 1-B Majority Demographic are a straight d4 roll. This does not work in a world where demi humans are supposed to be rarer to find. As it stands, using this generator will produce human settlements only 25% of the time. Overall, I would still recommend this product. It has good bones and will let you produce something quickly if you have need ideas.
